Friends of Music in Winchester is able to award small grants to children and young people who need financial assistance with their musical tuition, instruments or 4 children1
A small rural primary school was concerned that their musicians had no opportunity to play with others. An award from FMW enabled a group of similar small schools to get together, rehearse and put on a concert. An able violin student was being hampered in her progress by the lack of a sufficiently good bow. Her award enabled her to purchase a new bow and to move on in her playing. Violin lessons for a pupil with a troubled home life were an important ‘therapy’ but the lessons could no longer be afforded. Our grant has enabled these lessons to continue.
We are unable to make large grants but the small amounts that we can offer have made a huge difference to the lives of these young people.
