GRANTS
The Friends of Music in Winchester provides small grants to assist young people resident in Hampshire with
music tuition fees and/or the purchase of instruments.
Upon completion of the application form, the trustees take up references and then consider the applicant’s particular needs. If found suitable for an award, the applicant is asked to complete a simple contract between themselves and the Charity, and then the award is made.

Awards made over the last few years include:
Help given towards the cost of singing lessons when family circumstances changed.
An award towards fees at the Guildhall School of Music for a student playing
the saxophone.
An award made to The Hampshire Music Service to enable them to arrange an online master class with the principal cellist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Two students were given financial support enabling them to attend Hampshire County Youth Orchestra Spring and Summer courses.
During the lockdown, an able student was unable to have access to the Marimba. Our grant enabled her family to purchase her own instrument.
